Before you decide to take part in our study, it is important that you understand why are carrying out CLOCS' case-control study and what it will involve.

Please take time to carefully read the following information and feel free to contact us if anything is not clear.

What we are aiming to do

We believe information about how often and what products women purchase (e.g. pain killers, digestive products and natural remedies) to self-manage these early symptoms could help identify ovarian cancer a few crucial weeks earlier.

Using women's past purchase data collected from highstreet retailers' loyalty cards, we are hoping to identify early signs of ovarian cancer.

How we will investigate past purchases

In order to compare past purchases, we need 500 women with and 500 women without ovarian cancer to consent to our study and provide permission to request data from supporting retailers on their behalf.

We designed the website carefully to collect data using an encrypted server embedded on our website. For more information please see "About your data"

What you need to do

We would like you to complete a study consent form including your consent to access your loyalty card on your behalf and a brief survey that includes sections on

  1. About you
  2. Your reproductive history
  3. A brief medical history
  4. About your loyalty card usage

Note:  The names of two high street retailers are disclosed on the second page of the consent form.

Who can take part in the online study

Women 18 years and older who have not been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and have loyalty cards from a participating high street retailer are eligible to take part as control participants.
