Ovarian Cancer Awareness

As Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month comes to an end, we’re looking forward to this Friday when Ovarian Cancer Action are hosting the CLOCS team for a virtual event so we can tell you a bit more about why and how we’re aiming to reduce delays in diagnosis of ovarian cancer, how it’s going, and answer any questions you might have. The event is taking place on 26th March at 5pm.

You can sign up to join the Ovarian Cancer Action event here:

The Cancer Loyalty Card Study has been up and running (or walking as another team member might say) for about a year and a half now. It’s safe to say that those 18 months have not gone as planned or expected. Recruitment is continuing though.

We’re happy to have over 400 participants!

We’ve gotten in touch with Gillian, one of our supporters and participants in the study, to learn more about her experience taking part in CLOCS:

‘I heard about CLOCS through a post on Facebook. I was interested in participating because I lost my mum because of ovarian cancer, it was too late by the time she had a diagnosis, so anything to help detect it earlier would be great.’

Since we started advertising the study on social media in September 2020, over 80% of new participants reported that they heard about CLOCS on Facebook. We have seen several comments from others on social media about how they have or known others who have had similar experiences of losing someone due to delays in diagnosis. Unfortunately, 1 in 5 women do not receive treatment because they’re too unwell by the time they are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. We’ve written more about why this happens in a blog this month on VOICE here

We’re extremely thankful for the time Gillian and many others have taken to complete the CLOCS questionnaire on the CLOCS website and in clinics. Please do continue sharing the study with those who you think might be interested in participating, and together we will continue to aim to reduce delays in diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

We're looking forward to seeing you at the webinar this Friday!
